Contemplating over a cold Yuengling. I am so grateful for my family. Happy Easter everyone!

Very disappointed. The pit beef wasn't that good at all. Very plain, no seasoning or marinated enough and no smokey taste. Taste more like a roast beef sandwich and not a pit beef sandwich. The $5 pit beef we had at the carnival was way better than from this restaurant.

I love pit beef and Wargo's is one of the best. I started going there when it was a shack in the gravel parking lot of the Moose Lodge back in the early '70s. They finally bought the Moose lodge and had a place to eat indoors. And then all through the Basilone's incarnation. Since Andy and Brenda took it over (in the 80s, I think), it's only gotten better. If you love pit beef, ham or turkey, you gotta try it. I like my beef sandwich as a combination of medium rare with some burnt ends on their homemade roll with sauce and onions. The rolls are as good as the beef. The rest of their menu is good too... fried oysters, crab cakes, Maryland crab soup (and cream of crab on Fridays). It's country inn style, nothing fancy. It's priced right. And the service is friendly. This is my comfort food place. MSO

PIT BEEF is a must if you've never had it. The rest of the menu is average to above average. The menu is priced right for this Ma-Pa restaurant and the staff is alway friendly. They put a lot of love into service and food quality which is a testament in their homemade sandwich rolls. Pit beef maybe just a weekend thing but that sandwich is a 5 star creation. Complement that beef with a order of homemade onion rings and a beer. Whew, that's a treat!

I've patronized this local restaurant for years and have always enjoyed my meal and the good service provided. For an inexpensive lunch or dinner, Wargo's is a good choice. Their soups are excellent. Fried oysters are among the best in the area. On weekends, the pit beef is wonderful, piled high on a freshly baked roll. Offerings in the salad bar are fresh and varied--in addition to traditional green salad and toppings, you can get that Maryland favorite, apple butter and cottage cheese. And macaroni salad, excellent cole slaw, hard cooked eggs in beet juice. The servers at Wargo's are friendly, alert and effiecient. They are closed Sun and Mon, but it's a great place to consider for a meal the rest of the week. My experiences are only on the restaurant side--but I assume the food is just the same in the bar!

First time eating here. It was a Saturday night and they had BBQ (beef, ham - no pork). Ordered 3 sandwiches: 1) beef medium rare 2) beef with ham 3) beef medium. The sandwiches were served - no shit - on a freaking dinner roll. It looked like an appetizer from a wedding. AND it was dry meat. The onion rings were over saturated with oil, therefore wet and soggy after 5 minutes. And the bacons & cheese fries were dry as well. I mean almost crunchy dry like they had been in the fridge for 3 days and then re-heated. Bacon was real, though (that's the 1 star this review got). hmmmmm... a bad night? maybe. Nice people, but not such a great food experience.

I live in CT, but come down to Bel Air often to stay with my in-laws. Everytime I'm in Maryland, I try to hit up Wargos. I love this place, its a cheap - no thrills kind of place, but have never been disappointed with the food. The decor inside is pretty basic, a bunch of tables and a few booths. But the food really stands out. As you walk in, you always get a whiff of the pit beef cooking - mmmm! I've never had anything other than the Pit Beef, Salad Bar or Soup. The Salad bar is always very fresh and delicious, the pit beef sandwiches are great, especially with the BBQ sauce. On our last visit, we tried the Seafood Bisque and it was delicious. I've been here about 8 times and always look forward to going back.

Pit beef on Saturdays is the real deal. Plenty of smoke flavor, cooked the way you like it, and the homemade yeast buns are the best! A true local favorite.
